HerStory
Turning History into HerStory, because every milestone matters. We feature and celebrate our woman brigade who have been an integral part of the RBL Bank story.
Anu Mahindra has been with RBL Bank for over 8 years. Let’s know more about her journey.
Q: From your first day to today - what's the one value at RBL Bank that has remained constant and continues to inspire you?
A: As an employee who has been associated with the Bank for over 8 years now, I can say with great confidence that the Bank isn’t constrained by hierarchical structures. The senior management and leadership invest time in their employees, support new ideas and encourage them to move forward with a goal to enhance services for improved customer satisfaction. Additionally, we have successfully established a risk-compliant ecosystem while incorporating innovation across the spectrum.

Q: What's your proudest achievement at the Bank, and how did the organization enable it?
A: With each deal and structure that I have completed in my role, I have improved not only in my understanding of the industry, but also my decision-making skills. RBL Bank has been instrumental in bringing this about specially during the COVID-19 pandemic. WFH mode for working mothers was difficult due to limited external support. The Bank was understanding and flexible enough to accommodate to different schedules. In fact, one of the hallmarks of a great leadership team and organisation is the ability to support and believe in their employee’s abilities during down time.
Q: Which aspects of the Bank’s culture have been most empowering in your professional journey?
A: One of the most endearing aspects of the Bank’s culture is mutual respect and collaboration. We may disagree on issues, but we do so with respect for the other person’s opinion. Everyone freely voices out their thoughts to contribute in decision-making which helps create a culture of ownership. The collaborative work environment means a free flow of knowledge and experiences.
Q: How has the Bank supported your growth both as a professional and as an individual?
A: As a credit risk professional, I think one of the important qualities the role has helped me cultivate is the ability to break down a large and complex deal into smaller parts. Moreover, I have been equipped with the skill to “connect the dots” and be able to build strategy. The Bank has promoted my growth with continuous learning opportunities, enabling me to learn from my mistakes, letting me take ownership and providing me agility in decision making. I always refer to myself as WIP – work in progress, both professionally and personally!
Q: Looking back at your journey, what would you tell other women about building a career at RBL Bank?
A: Have clear career goals. Clarity is valued and be proactive in seeking opportunities. It is also very important to cultivate perseverance and resilience. Women bring diverse perspectives that are heard and respected within the organisation, making it an exciting and fulfilling career at RBL Bank.
