T-Bill |
Treasury bills are risk free debt instruments issued by the government to raise short term funds. These bills do not offer any interest but are sold at discount. At maturity (less than 1 year), the full face value is paid back to the investor. |
Total Expense Ratio (TER) |
Expressed as total expenses during an year to the total net assets of the fund. This ratio is used by investors to know what share of fund's earnings is incurred as expenses. Investors track and compare funds basis TER to gauge returns on different schemes. |
Total Return |
Total return is the the value after taking into account all income and expenses like dividend payouts, capital appreciation, tax paid etc. |
Tracking Error |
An index fund replicates the movement of the benchmark index. Any difference between the two results in the tracking error. Higher the tracking error, higher will be the difference between in returns of fund and the index. |
Treynor Ratio |
Treynor ratio, also known as the 'reward-to-volatility ratio', measures the returns which are in excess of that which could have been earned from risk-free securities. It gives an idea of how well the fund has performed given the risk associated with it. |
Trigger Facility |
An optional facility which allows investor to switch or redeem investments made in mutual funds on occurrence of pre defined event. |
Trustee |
A body or a firm which holds the authority to supervise the activities of an AMC. |
Venture Capital Fund |
An investment fund that provides capital to the companies with great growth potential. |
Volatility |
It is the measure of fluctuations in the asset price. Risk associated with an asset is directly proportional to its volatility. More the volatility, more is the risk associated. |
Year to date |
YTD or year to date is the period starting from the current fiscal or calender year to the present date. YTD returns are measured to assess funds performance and compare it with peers. |
